Obstacle Course Training
This class, run by Coach Kyle Abernethy, is designed to help participants of all fitness levels develop the strength, endurance, and agility needed to conquer any obstacle. It goes beyond traditional gym workouts, focusing on the fitness to prepare your body for real-world scenarios like climbing, crawling, lifting, and running on varied terrain.
What to Expect
Each dynamic session combines key elements of obstacle course training:
Stamina and Endurance: Build a strong aerobic base with a mix of steady-state cardio, sprints, and interval training.
Functional Strength: Develop full-body power through exercises like sled pulls, tire flips, rope climbs, and heavy carries using sandbags, atlas stones and other weighted objects.
Obstacle Skills: Learn the proper techniques for common obstacles such as rope climbs, wall climbs, ring swings, and barbed wire crawl, to improve efficiency and full body coordination.
Grip Strength: A major focus will be on building forearm and grip endurance through movements like dead hangs and farmer's carries, a common limiting factor on obstacles.
Agility and Core: Enhance balance, coordination, and core stability with drills that mimic the movements you'll encounter on the course, such as bear crawls and various plank exercises.
Mental Toughness: Train your mind to push through discomfort and overcome physical challenges, building the resilience needed to succeed when fatigued.
